Tor Insulated Jacket

First Impressions:

So out of the box the first thing that strikes me is the weight of the thing this is so light I couldn’t believe it was billed as a “Insulated”, the quality is fantastic and feels great soon as I try it on, the colour fits in perfectly with my other riding gear so I think I’m good to go. The only thing is that I’m a pretty tall guy at 6’2” so not sure if I would go for a L or XL but the fit of the L felt good and not tight at all.

Out on the trails:

From the blurb on the Polaris website I see this provides a perfect level of warmth for stop-start style rides on the trails” I’m going on a ride today with someone who is just getting into MTB so I’m going to put this feature to the test!…. and it passes with flying colours!

Its an evening ride so I gear up as normal (long sleeve base layer, short sleeve jersey) and now on top the Polaris jacket, right away I feel warm and comfortable nothing feels tight I have full movement with my camelbak on. It’s not a fast pace ride so don’t build up much of a sweat but push on certain sections and never get overly hot in the jacket and almost forgot I was wearing it! waiting at end of the sections for other riders to regroup and the jacket is living up to its “stop-start” tag line spot on never feeling cold at all. Pockets are great easy to get into even with gloves on so no messing about to take a cheeky pic or 3.

Conclusion:

Great jacket, small and light weight easily packable into most backpacks. I washed this jacket when back from the ride and it came out of the washing machine almost dry. Looking forward to using this jacket (or maybe trying the XL version) in the Peak and see how it stands up to a little harder riding or as much as I can give it.
